CAs(SA) Taking First Place!
South African Chartered Accountants have distinguished themselves by securing the premier spot in the global trust survey spearheaded by Edelman on behalf of Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW). The survey drew participation from over 1,300 individuals across eight key global markets, including South Africa, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
Maintaining High Professional Standards
The Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW) survey delved into four crucial facets: ability, integrity, dependability, and purpose. It found that 91% of South African businesses view Chartered Accountants (SA) as their primary partners in tackling economic challenges, underscoring the profession’s pivotal role in business resilience.
Since the survey’s inception in 2018, trust in Chartered Accountants worldwide has significantly increased. Amidst fluctuating trust levels in other global financial professions, Chartered Accountants have distinguished themselves, particularly in South Africa, which saw an increase of 9% in their trust score over the last two years, highlighting the profession’s increased credibility and reputation.
Despite the prevailing economic instability and the cost-of-living crisis, 89% of South African respondents affirmed that South African Chartered Accountants have been crucial to the nation’s businesses. 79% of South African respondents also stated that their organisations relied heavily on Chartered Accountants to ensure data integrity, exceeding the 74% recorded in Wales and the 72% in Australia.
